Colby High School in Colby, WI, home of Colby Cheese, has graciously agreed to set up a space in their showcase to honor the alumni serving in the armed services after Military Mom asked them to do so. Here’s the challenge: How many other schools have or will do the same for their military alumni? This is an opportunity for military parents to become involved in their communities. Go to the schools and ask them for space and YOU set up the site or organize an event; the possibilities are endless. It’s a wonderful way to bring home what the alumni soldiers are actually doing. It may encourage students to write to the soldiers or even adopt a platoon. At the very least, it shows the soldiers that the community cares. Be creative, list names, put in a map with pins showing where soldiers are located, put up pictures, list addresses if permitted, etc, etc.
